What to expect

Initial Consultation

This will be your first meeting with the surgeon in a clinic room to discuss your ideas, concerns, and expectations. The doctor will take a full medical history and examine the area of concern. The operative options will be discussed with you, including the consent process, which covers any potential risks or complications. There is no obligation to go forward with treatment.

Some minor procedures may be performed in the clinic room but most will require surgical removal. If you would like to proceed, you will be booked into the next available operating list to have your minor surgery in a small operating theatre using sterile operating practices.

The Surgical Procedure

All of our procedures are performed under local anaesthetic. Local anaesthetic is where the surgical area is numbed with injections and consciousness is not impaired. The injections do sting for a few seconds, but after that the procedure is comfortable and pain-free. The patient is able to eat and drink as normal and can drive to and from the appointment if required. There is also the option of sedation, where consciousness is impaired, but you are not fully asleep. We would be happy to discuss this option in more detail.

Aftercare

You will be given detailed aftercare instructions, contact details and a follow up appointment will be arranged if needed.
