Contraceptive Coil Removal
The contraceptive coil can be removed in a clinic room and takes a few minutes. Some women have found the insertion or previous removal of the coil uncomfortable, and we therefore offer the option of having the procedure performed under sedation in the operating theatre if you would like to consider this.

You should be able to return to normal activities immediately.
You may have some bleeding after removal of the coil, and contraceptive options will need to be considered. There is a small possibility the coil cannot be safely removed and Dr Lewis will refer you on if necessary.
